Political consultations between Tajikistan and Japan

 

On 11 March 2021, the third round of political consultations was held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and Japan in the format of a video conference. The delegations were led by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Khusrav Noziri and the Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Central Asia Tokuda Shuichi.

During the consultations, the parties discussed the state and prospects for the development of friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan, as well as exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The progressive and purposeful development of bilateral relations in all spheres between Tajikistan and Japan has been noted with satisfaction. In this context, the importance of implementation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)’s projects in Tajikistan has been emphasized.

The parties stressed the need for regional cooperation in the framework of the “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue and the necessity to strengthen cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels. The sides while noting the importance of continuing the peace process in Afghanistan, highlighted the necessity of assistance to this country by the international community.

At the end of the political consultations, the sides expressed the readiness and mutual interest in the further development of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries in all spheres.
